Kate Kennedy - Alto
Kate started playing the piano at 4 and took up the saxophone at the age of 10. She has a BA (Hons) in Music Industry Management, a Higher diploma in Pre-professional music and a Foundation certificate in Jazz. The latter was acquired from the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington, NZ. Kate spent 3 years working and studying in New Zealand and found a new passion in Jazz that she now realises is a life's work!

Helen Wheeler

Helen Wheeler – Tenor
Helen has played the saxophone since 1991 and only relatively recently converted from Alto to Tenor. She has played in a number of local bands over the years and has been the resident tenor player in Bluesax for the past 3 years as well as currently playing in 3 other local bands.
Her musical tastes include King Curtis, Prince, Tower of Power, Big Jay McNeeley and Aretha Franklin.

Emma Holgate

Emma Holgate - Baritone
Emma's musicianship started at the age of 7 when she took up the Piano, shortly followed by the Flute and then the Bassoon. In 1996 she invested in an Alto saxophone - something she had wanted to play for many years. She took up the Baritone sax about 4 years ago when it was decided that something was missing from Bluesax...a heavy bass line!
Emma works full time as an Accountant and also enjoys playing Alto sax in a local Swing band.

Former member and new mum Sarah Hards deps for Bluesax when required.

Sarah studied at the London College of Music graduating with a BMus Hons and performance diplomas in both Clarinet and Piano. She is currently a visiting instrumental teacher in Sussex and took up the Alto Saxophone about 8 years ago to compliment this.
Sarah is a keen runner (having completed the 2004 London Marathon) and photographer and enjoys spending time with her family and playing Alto in a local swing band.
